Double Trouble: Jason Hurley Faces the Ultimate Challenge at Rocky Mountain Race Week's MEGA WEEK 2025!

Jason Hurley, driver of the Meltdown Firebird, will do the unthinkable for Rocky Mountain Race Week Mega Week 2025! He is entering in BOTH Groups of racing! Matt Frost, creator of RMRW, is providing a few select racers the opportunity to enter both events. With one of the biggest stipulations being that racers must make two passes during each session.

The Largest, Most Hugest, Biggest Drag & Drive in History!

For those that have been under a rock, MEGA WEEK 2025 is the celebration of 10 years of Rocky Mountain Race Week. Matt and June are essentially combining their two events, RMRW and Race Week into a single week, creating the largest drag and drive event to ever be hosted. More than 600 cars will be split into two groups, Group A being the RMRW racers, while Group B will be the Race Week racers. Group A will make their passes in the mornings (7am-3pm) while Group B will make passes during the afternoon and evening (3pm-11pm).

Do you see how this can be difficult for Jason???

From a racer perspective, do you make passes in the early morning and sleep until the afternoon for your Group B passes once the temp cools back down?

Orrrr, do you wait and make early afternoon passes in Group A and then run your Group B passes as quickly as possible?

And when do you sleep???

All those questions will be answered the first week of June!

Back-To-Back-To-Back Champion

Jason is a three-time, back-to-back-to-back Champion of RMRW events with his third gen Firebird he calls the Meltdown Firebird Part Deux. He took his First Overall Win in Race Week 2022 over Tom McGilton with a 7.1658 Avg ET, Jason’s best finish of his career. Rocky Mountain Race Week 2023 saw him with the Overall Win again with a 7.5665 Avg ET. Race Week 2023 provided the trifecta with a 7.2103 Avg ET. RW23 also gave Jason his first 200 MPH pass and his Quickest ET of his RMRW/RW career with a 7.029, at Bandimere no less!

Jason has begun the logistical planning for this attempt at glory, contacting racers, sponsors and friends to work through the needs of the car, himself and his copilot. This undertaking will require a ton of prior testing, street miles and tetris practice for the drag and drive trailer. IT is a fine-line of having enough to continue the event and having too many parts creating strain on the car by hauling such a heavy trailer.

Where, When and How

Rocky Mountain Race Week MEGA WEEK will kick off May 31-June 1 at Tulsa Raceway Park, followed by Flying H Drag Strip in Odessa, MO for June 2, followed by a drive day to cover the 400+ miles to Thunder Valley Raceway Park in Noble, OK on June 4. The route turns south to Texas Motorplex in Ennis, TX for Day 4 of racing on June 5th before returning north to Tulsa Raceway Park for a Racer Party/Vendor Midway/Day of Relaxing before the largest shootout in drag and drive history commences on Saturday June 7th!

We will be following this story very closely and will keep you updated with anything we hear. But, to stay as up to date as possible, please follow Jason at The Meltdown Firebird pages below!
