See Red Camaro VS the Sweet’s Nova for NA Supremacy!
Drag and Drive events and High Horsepower Naturally Aspirated engines have a storied history! To run 7s in a naturally aspirated STREET CAR is very difficult for several reasons. The valvetrain required to move that much air is one of the most important parts of the combination.
We’ll see a showdown of the two quickest NA cars in the history of drag and drive racing at Sick Week 2024.
Jerry and Matt Sweet are a Father/Son team that burst onto the scene with their 1976 Chevy Nova at the inaugural Sick Week 2022, finishing with an 8.84 Average ET. They have since made numerous changes to the car, including moving to a Sonny’s 800+ ci engine that recently had work done by Brian Robbins.
Matt drove the car to a Hot Rod Drag Week Naturally Aspirated Single Pass Record of 7.845 at HRDW 2023. Sadly, the car developed a noise and the guys pulled out but it showed the capability of this combo!
Doc McEntire, Jeff McConnell and the See Red Camaro hold many drag and drive records and finished #27 on the Top 100 2023 Racer List with his Sick Week 2023 average ET of 7.834! He currently holds the Sick Week Naturally Aspirated Average ET Record with that average. He is the Back to Back Sick Week ProStreet NA Class Champion. He has the power and determination to make it a Three-Peat!
Sick Week 2024 is being hailed as the Super Bowl of Drag and Drive and we can’t wait to see these two teams go head to head for what could be the quickest Naturally Aspirated passes in Sick Week history!
These guys continue to push the envelope further and further for fans of Naturally Aspirated powerplants. We look forward to see the Naturally Aspirated Record fall again for Sick Week 2024!
We’ll be on site to follow along with driver interviews, daily videos, and stats from the week! Make sure you are following us for more coverage of the drag and drive community!
