Midwest Drags 2024 Winners and Record Setters
Midwest Drags 2024 is in the books! Congratulations to all competitors!
One of the big class wins was Randy Seward in the Street Race Small Block Power Adder Class - his second win of the season! He battled with Barry Cook all week, swapping leads a few times! He finished with an 8.533. His foxbody Mustang with a turbo small block Ford is a long time drag and drive staple. His first drag and drive appearance was Hot Rod Drag Week in 2012! Barry finished the week with an 8.544, just 0.011 behind Randy!
Graham Hayes for Ironman! He finished with a 7.71 average in the gray Chevy II he raced at Sick Week earlier this year. His best pass of the week was on Day Two, with a 7.292 at 189 MPH!
Adam Buntley reset the Manual H Pattern Class Record with his winning 9.065 Average! The turbo Terminator setup in the 01 Mustang looks great and runs exceptionally well! His best pass of the week came on Day Four at 8.850. He took the win by just 0.049 over CJ Roberts’ 9.114 average in his turbo Foxbody Mustang.
Index class racing continues to prove the determination of the racers!
Rolland Lela reset the SME 10.00 Index Record with his 10.050, lowering it by 0.008. He won the class by a margin of just 0.018 across 6 passes of racing!! Second place was awarded to Jay Grabiak and his 10.068 average. With third place behind Jay by 0.006, Timothy Smallwood's 10.074 made for the tightest Top Three race of the event!
Frank Fernandes reset the SME 11.00 Index Record with his 11.020, lowering it by 0.007. Frank’s Comet was tested this week for sure, with making a post on Day Three saying “Made 8 hits in about 1.5 hours, turned in an 11.009 and 11.003”.
Other Class winners include Jeremy Kroeger in Modified Power Adder with an 8.668, Paul Fisher in SME 12.00 Index with a 12.027, Guy Protano in Street Race Big Block NA with a 9.468, Devon Madison in Street Race Small Block NA with a 10.498, and Bradley Arnold in Super Street Small Block PA with an 8.171.
