TWO New Events and Olympic Drag & Drive wraps up!

In the Driven Racing Oil segment of Episode 66 of the Drag Drive Repeat Show presented by Summit Racing, we release info on two exciting new racing events on the horizon and a recap of Olympic Drag & Drive!

Dragway Rush 2024 - August 23-24 - Grand Bend, ON, CAN

Dragway Rush, a brand new event set to take place in Ontario, Canada, on August 23-24. This event will feature racing at two different tracks on the same day: Grand Bend Motorplex in the morning and St. Thomas Dragway in the evening, with a return to Grand Bend for Saturday morning racing. The unique format of racing at two different tracks on the same day is a great way test cars and racers! We look forward to more details surrounding this event in the coming weeks.

Secondly, the announcement of the Hard-Ass 1000 Fall Event for 2024, which will be a five-day event starting on October 25! This event is organized by the same team behind the twin-turbo Chevelle, Haulass Garage, which gained fame for its dramatic transformation of a field find from a "tired 396" to a twin-turbo beast with impressive 8-second quarter-mile runs during Hot Rod Drag Wek 2023!

Olympic Drag & Drive 2024 Recap

Now for Olympic Dragon Drive, held from May 31 to June 2 in Port Orchard, Washington. The event featured around 70 cars, which is an awesome turnout for a first-year event on the West Coast. Many long-time drag and drive racers, like Donovan Linwood and Corey Thompson, participated! The promoters for BC DragIt Challenge, a drag and drive in British Columbia, came down to try their hands at another event! I love to see this collaboration between event hosts, it can only help support our events!

The winners included:

  • Scott Hasbrock won the Tucker’s Towing Real Street (7.50 Index).

  • Ryan Stanley won Radioactive Fab Hot Street (6.50 index) with a 6.546 barely beating Ryan Young’s 6.560!!

  • Todd Brenton won the RM Commission Limited Street class with a 5.480, narrowly beating drag and drive veteran Donovan Linwood’s 5.511.

  • Corey Thompson, and his gorgeous Chevelle, won the Unlimited Class with a 5.56 average.

I think Corey was probably just excited to not have to drive a day and a half to get to an event that he's attended.

Adam Dorey stating “Obviously, the Chevelle still working. He does have, I think, new turbos on that for this year. So it might be making a little more chooch. But I think reading some of his posts, it was basically just a tuner's race. The tracks were not holding the power that he was making. That dude's a gangster. I'm really, really excited to see him already stacking some trophies this year.”

Corey did indeed upgrade to F3 8280 HPT Turbos in April saying “These about dropped right in place, dimensionaly they are super close. I only have to move my gate, only because I had it super tight to the turbo, so the bigger turbine makes contact, just barely.”
